I am thrilled to share that today marks my second anniversary as the Gum & Mints and Fruity Confectionery Marketing Director at Mars Wrigley Asia.

Two years ago, I was both nervous and excited about taking on this Asia-level marketing leadership role, responsible for over 20 markets and 10+ brands across the region for the categories. Initially, I had applied for a different position, but after several rounds of interviews and a panel case study, the company entrusted me with this senior role. This experience boosted my confidence in my capabilities and potential for the position.

Reflecting on my journey during a family vacation in Osaka this week, I admit that it hasn’t been easy. However, thanks to the dedication and teamwork of all Mars Wrigley Asia associates, the Asia Gum & Mints & FC team has achieved remarkable milestones over the past two years in value and volume growth, category expansion, and market share increase. These achievements represent the highest numbers in my career, culminating in our team’s performance and approach being recognized as one of Asia’s Best Practices at the 2024 All Asia Associates Day in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, in April 2024.

Key to our success were four critical factors:

1. A capable and experienced team built on trust and strong relationships.

2. A shift from reactive to proactive learning from Asia consumers and global & other markets, fostering continuous improvement.

3. Clear portfolio choices ensuring sufficient investment in mental & physical availability

4. Initial success in prioritized markets, providing the confidence to scale up across Asia.

5. Distinctive product innovations perceived favorably and noticeably by consumers in high-demand spaces.

As I look forward, I am more confident than ever in my team and Asia markets’ ability to drive sustainable growth. With the incredible support of all Mars associates, my Asia GMFC marketing team, and all Asia markets, we are well-positioned to contribute to Mars Wrigley Asia’s 2030 Ambition. Here’s to more milestones and continued success!
